Brian M. Grawe, MD
Brian M. Grawe, MD is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and is currently an Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Grawe works in both the Division of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction, specializing in both arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee joints. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in advanced shoulder reconstruction procedures, including shoulder arthroplasty for arthritic conditions and techniques that address instability of shoulder.
Dr. Grawe is proud to be a life-long Cincinnatian. He grew up in the Mt. Lookout area, and attended St. Xavier High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Biology (Cum Laude) from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois (2004); and his Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio (2008). From there he completed a 5-year orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati (2008 – 2013); and then a 1 year Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York (2013-2014). While in New York, Dr. Grawe had the opportunity to work with numerous professional and intercollegiate athletes, as he was under direct supervision of the head team physicians for the New York Giants, New York Nets, New York Red Bulls, New York Liberty, and New York Mets, respectively. Furthermore, he had the privilege of serving as an assistant team physician for the New York Knicks and St. John’s University while working in New York. Currently, Dr. Grawe is the Director of Player Medical Services at the Western & Southern Open, and provides medical care for the athletes of both the ATP and WTA. In addition, he provides medical care for numerous high school level athletes in the tristate area, while continuing to be a proud team physician for University of Cincinnati athletics.
Throughout his career Dr. Grawe has received numerous awards and honors, in the field of orthopaedics, and published several peer reviewed articles and book chapters on a variety of topics in the area Sports Medicine and Shoulder surgery. He is currently very active in the research arena, and focuses his attention on clinical research that investigates patient centered outcomes for many different conditions that affect the shoulder and knee. He also works in the lab as a clinician scientist in the realm of tendon healing. One of Dr. Grawe’s true passions is education, and has won several peer awards for his dedication to teaching medical students and residents about the discipline of orthopaedics. This passion allows him to stay up to date with current medical literature, and offer high quality comprehensive patient care.

Recreationally, Dr. Grawe enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid runner, golfer, and hiker.
